Inspiration

My mother Susanna Schneider left hundreds of watercolor paintings to posterity, which she had painted since around 1997. As a garden connoisseur and flower lover - she could truly identify many plants right away - her heart was always open to the colorful world of nature. Her hobby began with painting wooden plates in the traditional classical style. When the children left home, she tried to find a professional artist to learn the art of watercolor painting. She attended numerous painting courses with Wilhelmine Melscok, a renowned painter from Graz. During this time of learning, an art community formed around the painting course, which was very valuable to my mother. We motivated each other and were encouraged to consciously paint nature and people in a different way, as a challenge so to speak. Over the years, numerous wonderful flower still lifes and colorful snapshots of mostly typical Styrian landscapes were created. A positive outlook on the world speaks through her paintings, a heart that was open not only to people, but also to fauna and flora. My mother passed away in Graz in 2017, but she will live on for us forever in her paintings.

My mother knew how to convey the essence in a watercolor painting. To create an atmosphere of harmony in which you want to immerse yourself in order to find a little peace and quiet. This atmosphere can actually be found in all her watercolor paintings - many hundreds of them. Her choice of colors supports this gentleness; one rarely finds drastic differences in light in her paintings. Her attachment to the countryside is reflected in her paintings, even though she has spent most of her life in cities.
