High on Summit Hill in St. Paul, the sister city of Minneapolis on the other side of the Mississippi, towers St. Paul Cathedral, the exterior of which was completed in 1915. So rare is such a building in the United States that the cathedral was declared a national shrine in 2009. When you enter the cathedral, you are surrounded by complete silence. The dome is majestic and lofty, and a feeling of humility comes over you.
